When reality turns to memory <br />A single rose stands apart <br />Its bright petals turn to gray <br />The color drains <br />But the flower remains <br />The single rose keeps the memory alive <br />Tears from the eyes <br />Drip the color away <br />Creating a puddle of red <br />A single rose dulled <br />It stands alone <br />Apart from others <br />Beautifully gray and original <br />The single rose reminds us <br />Of the past days <br />In which the tears drained the colors away <br />A red puddle stands motionless <br />Below that brittle rose <br />The petals wither away <br />Falling one by one <br />Floating peacefully upon that puddle <br />They soak up what was lost <br />Revived with color <br />Sitting on the ground untouched <br />The stems still remains <br />Hung up and dry <br />That's when the single rose turns memory into reality<br /><br />Nicole GravellPellerino<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/a-single-rose-11/
