It was supposed to be just a coffee date <br />An endless talk for hours to catch up with time <br />But then it was just a perfect time to chill <br /> <br />Ended up to see her friend to a bar <br />She sang a song and it was nice <br />A voice and a face like angel, a killer smile <br /> <br />Then finally I see myself into silence <br />Realizing too many thoughts <br />But getting back myself once again <br /> <br />I see lyrics and poems again <br />I hear music though it was just a talk <br />I see verses with her smile, it kills me <br />The feeling I’ve lost... but the feeling I fear <br /> <br />We dance, we laugh, and we communicate <br />Who is this girl, and why is she here? <br />I’m afraid... and im doing a good job pretending <br />That I’ll never fall for those sweet things in life and dating <br /> <br />And look at me here again with my pen <br />Writing poems, humming melodies on my head <br />Though never expecting of anything from anything <br /> <br />But I know I got to thank her for giving it back to me <br />Though she was unaware of what she did <br />But I thank God for that Coffee date <br /> <br />No more pretentious smile, this is real <br />Thanking those who shed light to me again <br />Making my life worth living… <br />Hoping that for somehow I’ve also touched her life…<br /><br />Mark Anthony Mendoza<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/a-coffee-date/
