There was a melody, <br />few ears could hear <br />meant not for folks <br />or even lovers near. <br /> <br />She smiled though <br />at the soothing sounds <br />and dreamed. <br />She was a rose, <br />exquisite in soft pink <br />high-placed her friends, <br />majestic were her oaks <br />gave shade and peace, <br />spilled drops of dew to drink <br />and beauty to the grounds. <br /> <br />In fact it seemed <br />that forests grow <br />as roses and tall trees <br />and Nature tends to be <br />a gentle mother lode. <br /> <br />Windswept they stand <br />and listen to the ode, <br />a musical for some, <br />invisible the band. <br />Woodpecker plays the drum. <br /> <br />She listens with her heart <br />and shares but knows it is <br />for others only art, <br />for her it's simply HIS. <br /> <br />Soft petals slowly spread, <br />receiving melodies. <br />Green moss, a silent bed, <br />from distant hills a breeze.<br /><br />Herbert Nehrlich<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/as-petals-open/
