She hear the angels piping in the breeze <br />And she see the fairies dancing on the trees <br />And she run to her mum to tell her what she's seen <br />But mum of course does not believe Maureen. <br /> <br />Her mother says to Maureen my dear child <br />Your imagination on you has been running wild <br />Your fairies and angels invisible to me <br />And you fantasize on what you hear and see. <br /> <br />A child's imagination is a marvellous thing <br />She see the fairies dance and hear the angels sing <br />And things come to life when Maureen visualize <br />And her stories real to her to us seem lies. <br /> <br />The world's a marvel in young children's eyes <br />They see the paradise beyond the skies <br />But as we age and as the years go by <br />The innocence of childhood in us die. <br /> <br />The four year old Maureen to her mother run to say <br />I see the fairies dance again today <br />But her mother says the fairies that you see <br />Will always be invisible to me.<br /><br />Francis Duggan<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/maureen-2/
