Francis Duggan - That Little Town By The Sea

2014-06-12 2 Dailymotion

The polluted World of Suburbia well over an hour's drive away
And out where saltwater is deeper the gannets are diving for prey
The silver gulls mewing on the rooftops and i fancy again i can see
The walking track down to the beach head from that little town by the sea.

Away from polluted suburbia of factories and traffic noise
In a world of bird song and beauty and sun shine and clear coastal skies
To visualize is not a hard thing at least it comes easy to me
And I'm never far from saltwater and that little town by the sea.

The surfers who ride the huge surf waves are they more foolhardy than brave?
For some of those who took on the might of the ocean now lay in a watery grave
The greater the wave the greater the challenge yet what's fun to them madness to me
And they can't live far from saltwater and their little town by the sea.

The coastal people love the coast lands and they could not live in the big town
Where the streets are crowded with shoppers and motor cars roar up and down
They live where they can hear the ocean and where shrike thrush sings on banksia tree
And they will stay till the reaper claim them in their little town by the sea.

Francis Duggan

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/that-little-town-by-the-sea/
