I am trapped! <br />In the present <br />In a present I have made for myself <br />Behind lies regret <br />I cannot go back to change the past <br />Nor would I want to <br />For I would simply make the same mistakes again <br />Or perhaps new mistakes that would make my present worse <br />As for the future <br />I can't fast forward to a better world <br />A better world can only be made in the present <br />My here and now suggests a dark future <br />Perhaps I should skip all the way forward to the end of days <br />Then only an uncertain afterlife awaits <br />Charlatans pretend to understand what lies beyond <br />But they can't possibly know <br />So <br />Until the end <br />I'll make my way <br />In the present <br />As best I can!<br /><br />bob eichen<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/trapped-by-myself/
