From the beginning <br />you have made me <br />search for you. <br /> <br />Whatever else I do, <br />anywhere I am, <br />this is my actual vocation. <br /> <br />From the start <br />you formed in me <br />a magnetic longing. <br /> <br />You sent me <br />what I thought <br />were my own questions <br /> <br />and you led me <br />along life's paths <br />through dry plains <br />into dark chasms <br />where you gave me <br />your endurances. <br /> <br />All the time <br />from the very start <br />it has been you <br />changing me <br />from your hidden place, <br />with patience <br />and perseverance <br />through the years of my blindness. <br /> <br />And I thought it had been me! <br /> <br />Our picnic baskets have fallen to the ground <br />and all the pronouns are mixed up! <br /> <br />You are not hidden anymore <br />by spiritual practices - <br />for now the sun is rising, <br />the cage door is open <br />and the key is thrown away. <br /> <br />The crowds are fleeing! <br />but all I want <br />is to hold your hand.<br /><br />Ian Trousdell<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/awareness-from-the-start/
