He is hurting. <br />I can tell – <br />I can feel it <br />when I think of him <br />even from so far away, <br />so long since we last talked. <br /> <br />He feels alone. <br />Even though <br />I am right there. <br />With him. <br />All the time. <br />Tucked in the shadows, <br />just out of eyeshot, <br />holding his hand. <br /> <br />(Even now <br />I am there.) <br /> <br />He doesn't realize. <br />How beautiful he is. <br />How special he is. <br />How much he means to me, <br />and always has – <br />ever since he plucked me <br />from the depths of <br />my loneliness and despair <br />all those years ago <br />and took me into his life, <br />into his heart, <br />gave me a someone to call home <br />in this big bad city of ours. <br /> <br />But he is in pain! <br />What do I do? <br />How do I help him <br />when I am not there? <br />When he can't see <br />the tears I shed <br />when I feel his pain – <br /> <br />(Oh yes, my darling, <br />I can feel it.) <br /> <br />So I will say: <br /> <br />You are beautiful. <br />You are special. <br />You are sexy. <br />You are not fat. <br />You are a shining light, <br />a guiding force, <br />a wonderful friend.... <br /> <br />And I love you! <br /> <br />So when you're feeling <br />alone <br />afraid <br />fat <br />worthless <br />strange <br />lost <br />confused...... <br /> <br />Come to me. <br />I am here. <br />I will hold you <br />and pat your back <br />and listen <br />and understand <br /> <br />till the tears are gone <br />till the clouds have parted <br />till your appetite is sated <br /> <br />till you can see <br /> <br />YOU <br /> <br />shining and transcendent <br />beautiful and powerful <br />in your magic mirror (from New Jersey) .<br /><br />Amy Carr<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/my-beloved-he/
