As I sat on the glider on the front porch <br />And watched the attractive twilight glow, <br />I took an imaginary trip down memory lane <br />And envisioned the colorful flowers in a row. <br /> <br />The aroma of perfume from the flowering shrubs, <br />The scent of the freshly cut grass, <br />The fragrance from the assortment of flowers, <br />All mingled in an identifiable mass. <br /> <br />I heard the rousing voices of children, <br />How carefree and excited they seem. <br />I heard the clanging of a distant bell <br />As I continued my journey to fulfill my dream. <br /> <br />I heard the mourning dove cooing <br />And an owl hooting on the nearby hill. <br />I heard a variety of birds chirping, <br />Interrupting my dream that finally became nil.<br /><br />Joseph T.
