Far there in the mid of the green fields <br />where I used to live in simple and ease <br />when mother used to take care of me <br />and my grandpa with fishes he used to seize <br />lived togather in quiet and peace <br /> <br />my grandpa told me once <br />son don't ever try to mend <br />the broken heart cos' no use <br />life goes on and you must bend <br />and this is life is just a blend <br /> <br />I remembered that when I first knew love <br />for after the fights I had to go on <br />with my broken heart I had to live <br />and cure myself by my own alone <br />and what granpa said had been done <br /> <br />then my mother told me for some reason <br />for life we have to go after and leave my home <br />there beyond those green hills and that ocean <br />she promised a better life awaits to roam <br />so we moved after to my new home <br /> <br />no green fields here just some streets <br />and for the hills buildings were placed <br />no clovers to chase after nor roses <br />and in it's place the broken heart stayed <br />still didn't see what mother promised <br /> <br />I had fame and I had money <br />I have everything here sweetened <br />I had everything mother told me about <br />but the broken heart still not mended <br />the broken heart still not mended<br /><br />Taher Shemaly<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/my-mother-promised/
