The sun shines down heating her skin <br />The wind is still, today she’ll win <br />She lies on her tummy watching the world <br />This place is her oyster and she sees her pearl <br />She gently gets down from her high top seat <br />She’s hungry now and smells fresh meat <br />Slowly through the grass she goes <br />She’s so near but they don’t know <br />Slowly she approaches with utmost care <br />Silent as a mouse, no noises to scare <br />There it is in front of her now <br />She licks her lips but resists to growl <br />One more step and she’ll be in range <br />One more step before lives change <br />She readies herself preparing for the kill <br />A hunter she is with the greatest of skill <br />She jumps up in a silent motion <br />Sending them running in a dust of commotion <br />But it’s too late for the chosen one <br />The winds were down, today she won<br /><br />Cheré Mason<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/changing-winds/
