Though a shame for such a land <br />my country is shameless. <br />A land losing its people <br />to alien illiteracy. <br />My country so richly blessed <br />wallow in cognitive underdevelopment. <br />The grants of our FATHER <br />have residence in the pockets of a few. <br />Schools are unsheltered <br />market stalls- open like dug graves; <br />windowless, doorless, lacking in standard <br />Teachers remain unpaid. <br />Pupils remain untaught. <br />Lecturers resort to handing out, <br />sorting to maintain equilibrium. <br />All, portents of our difficulties. <br />Some lecturers are moralistic hypocrites <br />motion pictures to students. <br />Displaying negatively what they teach <br />a complete hindrance to education, <br />if it is knowledge-character transmission <br />then, shame on us.<br /><br />Kctony Xtopher Nkwocha<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/are-we-ashamed/
