Where art thou my muses of darkness?
prepared to devour all who are good
and to destroy all that is right within the light
the dragons lay chained in their caves
waiting for the feast of saints and martyrs
that the faith has promised them so many years ago
their religion being one of fate and they
they are their own gods
they make their own destiny
i sat with them at youth
eager to learn their secrets and rituals
hoping for their complexity and simplicity
to rub off and make me more than human
more than two eyes and a mouth in skin
born into a skewed and innate reality
a vexacious existence coupled with shame
and honor
i know not what destiny i await with my gods
they who were born out of fire and destruction
but the hunger rises in me
as slowly day by day
i become something more than what i am
i become of god and dragons
i become them
as i am thrust from the light
into the cold dark shadows of eternal darkness

3: 12 p.m.

Adrian Cedillo

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/of-gods-and-dragons/
