Sidewalk in the rain, <br />I’m walking to her house <br />In the Sunday-overcast landscape <br />Of the lonely city <br />Trying to find sunlight <br />Through the mist <br />Of my longing heart <br />And ceaseless thoughts. <br /> <br />A weekend marathon <br />For a beautiful friend, <br />She runs for the hope <br />Of a new beginning; <br />Birds in the park <br />Along her path <br />Sing for her <br />Like I’ve sang for her. <br /> <br />Yesterday’s dream <br />Dissolves into myth <br />But I’m dreaming again <br />Of her slender shoulders <br />In a summer dress, <br />I promise never to forget <br />Saturday night tears <br />And poignant conversations. <br /> <br />I’m reciting prayers <br />In the shrine light <br />Of her eyes, <br />I solemnly write my words <br />Like hieroglyphics <br />On pyramid walls. <br /> <br />I have to see her again <br />In a wineglass café <br />Or a library reading room, <br />Every day, I exit into a reverie <br />Along the gorgeous boulevards <br />Of imagination <br />To become closer <br />To the presence <br />Of her magical essence.<br /><br />Uriah Hamilton<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/slender-shoulders/
