Second Innings - This is a collection of poems written for or from the point of view of an ageing person. <br /> <br />_______________ <br /> <br />These hands have toiled in the fields <br />Borne so much more than the creases reveal. <br />These eyes have seen the dark and light <br />Though now they’re losing sight. <br />These legs have walked for miles on end <br />Now they tremble at every other bend. <br /> <br />These hands have helped many a soul <br />But no one offers help now <br />When I need it the most! <br />These eyes beg for compassion <br />And legs plead to be rested <br />But to no avail-I’m being tested! <br /> <br />These hands, eyes and legs of an ageing soul <br />Don’t wait to be taken care of anymore, <br />In humanity they’ve lost hope. <br />Perhaps, they’re waiting for <br />GOD <br />To open up the heaven’s door! <br /> <br />(23 March 2007)<br /><br />.Pd. is here<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/these-hands-eyes-and-legs-second-innings/
