The cost of freedom for the USA <br />Is in the trillions of dollars for their arsenal <br />Empires expand like a balloon <br />And then collapse. <br /> <br />Britain, France, Belgium and others <br />All took countries in their stride <br />Now there is the European common market. <br />Another disaster. <br /> <br /> Once the globe was nearly red for the UK <br />In the name of Victoria <br />Now awards are given - the OBE and MBE with others. <br />Mere trinkets <br />Britain has no empire. <br /> <br />We that forget their past are living on borrowed time <br />It was only sixty odd years ago <br />That Germanys venom mixed with their love of music <br />Seduced the populace with terror. <br /> <br />Why is our planet overwhelmed with hatred <br />For differences in race, creed and religion? <br />Basted with paranoia <br /> <br />Time runs short for us all, <br />Through our ignorance and greed <br />A veil has been drawn over our faces <br />So to look into the future is an impossible vision.<br /><br />willow moon pearce<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/and-counting/
