A modern day Romeo and Juliet
make unfulfilled promises with
dead kisses and blunted words.
Their arched backs thrust towards
the sky. They laugh in silence, and
smile through each other eyes.

Behind them on a battered bench
two skin headed men agitated and
instant, conceal their insecurites with
hard glances and forced frowns.
I see them when they are alone
they shit and cry like you and I.

Beneath me, An old man smiles
a toothless black hole of a smile
his white legs are lined with blue
rippling rivers signifing his end
I am not fooled by his fragility
A tatoo streching with the years invites
me to read his past.

The streets reveal the crimes
of the drunken, blood runs down
minature mountians. I saw it in the paper too.
The witness's in all their cemented stability
confess with differing looks.
Even dusy windows are transparent.
We, the walking wounded plead on sore knees
I see them all, Their eyes are as absorbant
of those of a child

Not Long Left

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/a-little-distant-yet-fully-aware/
