The school year came and went <br />I wanted to do more <br />but summer was almost spent <br />We got a call from my sister <br />tears rolling down faces <br />she had brest cancer <br />she couldn't go many places <br />our hearts were weaping <br />we feard for the worst <br />for she had to have surgery <br />my heart felt like it was going to burst <br />surgery went fine <br />but the worst was yet to come <br />six treatments of chemo <br />her hair would come undone <br />she was sick and weak <br />but now that it's done <br />seven weeks of radiation <br />fun, fun, fun <br />she starts in a few days <br />she'll grow her hair back <br />but it will be five years <br />before we know if the cancer will come back <br />she told me once <br />that this was like being sick <br />something you can't get rid of <br />she said it was hard <br />sometimes painful <br />she made jokes about it <br />just to ease the pain <br />when she wanted something done <br />she would ask then say <br />'....because I have cancer' <br />it made my mom mad <br />it was her way of dealing with it <br />and it really helps her <br />to know that we're here <br />whenever she has fear <br />it really helps to see her smile <br />and dance like she should <br />to see her having fun <br />acting as if nothings wrong <br />it makes me happy <br />to know that she's ok <br />it makes me fill up with joy <br />on a sad day <br />I know she'll be ok <br />because she's so young <br />and I know shwe'll make it <br />in the long run.<br /><br />Shauna Stoltz<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/cancer-20/
