People speak of homeland as the countries that bore their ancestors <br />They speak of pride, tradition, and origins of predecessors <br />I have no interest in where I came from, or a family history <br />The past should stay the past: an unsolved mystery <br />I look to the future, and what the morrow may bring <br />A new rising sun, a new day dawns, the new morning <br />For what is today but yesterday's tomorrow? <br />Dwelling on the past brings about nothing but sorrow <br />But by no means should the past be forgot <br />By learning from past wrongs true wisdom is saught <br />But my homeland will always be the land in which I reside <br />Where I will spend my days, live my life, and always confide<br /><br />Glaedr the poet<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/homeland-i-do-not-dwell-in-the-past/
