Lost in her world, pretending to understand his <br />Where everything is hugs and kindness <br />Was she dreaming, or was this life for real <br />Or just a moment of happiness she could steal <br /> <br />Her whole life nothing but loneliness and pain <br />Not in control of her life, where they would reign <br />Oh god please end this, she would cry out <br />Thought this was what life was all about <br /> <br />As a child till an adult, never known love <br />Tried so hard to have a life to be proud of <br />Kept reaching out, only finding the wrong man <br />Pushing her further down, was their plan <br /> <br />She learned to be strong, where all wanted her weak <br />Held her head high, when they didn't let her speak <br />The skeletons of pain, now deeply buried <br />In her heart so deep, is where they're carried <br /> <br />She's happy now, found her place in life <br />Met a great man and became his wife <br />Finally happy, very caring and kind <br />That pitiful life I write about used to be mine! <br /> <br /> <br />(Dogs4donna/2007)<br /><br />Donna Nimmo<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/conquered-life/
