I ask myself, why was I not loved as a child? <br />Was I such a bad child mom? <br />Could you not stand the sight of me, have you got regrets ever giving birth to me? <br />Remember mom when you shouted, smacked and made me cry? <br />I was a wee child of five, you were my entire life. <br />I asked you to love me, you couldn't, you turned, walked away, leaving me stood there drowning in my own sadness. <br />You left scars for all to see. <br />Did I ever tell you my friends, they laughed and picked on me. <br />My happiest times were whilst I were asleep. <br />My dreams were so beautiful and mine to keep. <br />You couldn't take my dreams away from me, but you took my god damn virginity! <br />For that I will hate you beyond eternity. <br />I am grown now and have children of my own. <br />I love them, they love me. <br />I don't need you for my own. <br />I hate you, I despise you, feel sorry for you all at the same time. <br />Your life will soon be over. <br />So you see mom, there's not enough time!<br /><br />Deborah Ashdown<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/not-enough-time/
