Decades have passed as time flies by
So much water under the bridge
Gone from ice boxes to the fridge
Now we have acid rain from the sky

Gone are the days of horse drawn carts
Past is the time of black and white television
There's no longer time for wavering indecision
Or reminiscing about your broken hearts

Gone are the days of radios with transistors
Busy with the day's mundane tasks
So is this progress, my inner voice asks
So much for the work that causes any blisters

Gone are the days of drinking milk from a bottle
Riding on Dad's lap, learning to drive
Now it's against the law, you may not survive?
Keep your hands to yourself and off the throttle

Gone are the days of playing hide and seek
Now children play with little iPods
Could this be healthy, what are the odds?
I'm even afraid to swim in the creek

I still yearn for simpler days
Of course now we have so much more
Than we ever had before
Life has become an endless maze

J.B.
