Regardless of the direction in which I walk, <br />and because of this tumor that continues to grow <br />on the top back part of my shiny shaved head <br />people think I'm always staring at them... <br />They ask it questions that it can’t possibly answer <br />Because it has no voice; it speaks only of the pain <br />as it drills into my skull and feeds on my brains. <br />I try hard everyday to move forward on my journey <br />to the end of a long and healthy life, recovering <br />as I relearn my A B C’s; especially the C’s <br />But the tumor that now wears a thirty-eight D cup bra, <br />bleeds out my last pint of blood and pounds <br />my love for life with the constant drumming of my own heartbeat <br />as it now grows arms with which to wave goodbye <br />to all those whoever has encountered me <br />as I follow Polaris with eyes on the back of my head…. <br /> <br />2008 © T S<br /><br />Ted Sheridan<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/following-polaris-with-eyes-on-the-back-of-my-head/
