Drunk with revenge, the knight pondered, <br />Lit the candles, took the oath <br />Die for honor, foe to loathe. <br />Wounding the henge, the wind wandered. <br /> <br />Armlets and poleyns, helmet and mace, <br />Bloodthirsty sword in scabbard, <br />The lance mocking the Holy Hazard, <br />The haughty knight arrayed with grace. <br /> <br />Gold medallions adorned the chest. <br />Shoulder bore the mighty bow. <br />The carved shield, feathered arrow. <br />Wild stallion gorged with zest. <br /> <br />Rusty chains yielded at the knight’s behest. <br />Wooden doors bowed as if in fear. <br />Sweating moments crawling near, <br />Feeble puppets in Heavens’ written gest. <br /> <br />With veins bloating and mane floating, <br />Earthly Pegasus spurred to rise. <br />Tiny ray of light drowns and dies. <br />Mourning eddy of sky’s coating. <br /> <br />Cedars and elms, oaks and ebonies’ <br />Moaning twigs and sighing foliage, <br />Ridden fast in wind’s winged carriage. <br />The hoofs trample on dainty conies. <br /> <br />Crimson dews on the knight’s forehead <br />Relics of rotten thorny fingers <br />The hope melts away, fear lingers <br />Stars lulled to die on the night’s deathbed. <br /> <br />On brink of an abyss <br />Drew the steed’s rein <br />Guilty jealous Cain <br />By sin’s precipice <br /> <br />Heart’s hate to sate <br />Unsheathed the lance <br /> The horse did prance <br />Taste Icarus’s fate…<br /><br />Farshid Rezaee<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/solitary-knight/
