I sat inside my pen <br />My things strewn on my bed <br />A tear runs down my cheek <br />Despair runs through my head <br />My bag is in the closet <br />It’s twelve o’clock at night <br />And down the hall I see <br />One door still rimmed with light <br />I pushed it opened quietly <br />She’s sitting on the floor <br />My books fill up her shelves <br />My posters on her door <br />I hold her in my arms <br />And try to show a smile <br />She knows what’s going on <br />That I’m leaving for a while <br />Her head is on my shoulder <br />My tears are on her cheek <br />My heart grips hers so strongly <br />Though my hands grip hers so weak <br />I’m sorry my dear girl <br />I don’t know how long I’ll be <br />I’m sorry pretty child <br />Please, please forgive me <br />I don’t know how long I'm going to be <br />I know i'll try to call <br />I don’t know where I don’t know when <br />But I'll love you through it all <br />I know this may be hard <br />And the sky may look so gray <br />Just please don’t cry, I will be back <br />I will be back someday <br />Don’t listen to every word they say <br />I’m always here to stop your fall <br />Keep your heart and head up high <br />And goodbye my cracked porcelain doll<br /><br />Jocelynn Halbauer<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/porcelain-doll-6/
