Spectres of darkness reign within <br />Where Satan’s demons smile <br />Where aching hearts are steeped in sin <br />And thoughts are plagued with bile <br /> <br />Whilst ignorance thinks nothing wrong <br />Whilst shadows cloud the mind <br />Gladly we sing our foolish song <br />Serving the devil blind <br /> <br />While demons cheat and tell their lies <br />While Satan seeks to kill <br />Our evil deeds keep blind our eyes <br />And hearts grow heavier still <br /> <br />Actions control the way we think <br />Words can the soul impede <br />Yet deeper depths we stoop and sink <br />Till lost in total need <br /> <br />Where ignorance; still wears a crown <br />And darkness takes more hold <br />The devil pulls us deeper down <br />And hearts grow icy cold <br /> <br />Though Satan seems our soul has won <br />Though death lays wide its doors <br />Calling to Christ God’s Lamb and Son <br />Will lock the devil’s jaws <br /> <br />The blood of Christ has conquered death! <br />Has freed us from disgrace <br />So hope remains whilst still there’s breath <br />And God affords us grace <br /> <br />Such knowledge is a treasure rare <br />To Heaven’s Gate the key <br />A guarantee with Christ to share <br />The spoils of victory<br /><br />Michael P.
