A little girl was breaking down <br />Until the day she found a crown <br />She placed it on her head <br />And smiled at the living dead <br />Looking to the wondrous stars <br />She made a wish to hide her cut up scars <br />Wanting a friend to help her with her mending <br />But she’ll just go on pretending <br /> <br />She’ll play a part in the land of make believe <br />She’ll be the forgotten princess who has been deceived <br />She’ll dress up in velvet and lace <br />With tears streaming down her face <br />Won’t she be so pretty with all the silky bows? <br />Even though she’ll still feel naked under all the fancy clothes <br />Because she’s been stripped from all humanity <br />Now she’s stuck in reality <br /> <br />This is her fairy tale of nightmares <br />And she’s all alone in the middle of nowhere <br />So she’ll just enter her special fantasy <br />That only her own eyes can see <br />She once was sad that no one wanted her <br />But now she’s found it’s what she prefers <br />It’s amazing how she fell in love with loneliness <br />And found her own happiness <br /> <br />Looking at the scars on her wrist <br />It’s like her bodies being hopelessly kissed <br />And in this marvelous thing she smiled <br />But everyone will just think she’s a gloomy child <br />And her worthless existence will fade away <br />With her body growing colder every single day <br />She will sit in her little corner crying tears of pain <br />Making pretend her tears are only rain<br /><br />Arielle Perkins<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-little-girl/
