I saw a light, i saw a light <br />It was the Devil holding an eveready light <br />I knew i was dying, believe me i wasnt' lying <br />It was old nick with a big stick <br />He said poet is that you i see in my eveready light <br />He said poet do you know what time it is <br />I said its' midnight old nick <br />Could you refrain from thrashing me with that big stick <br />I said please old Devil im' not ready <br />Even though you caught me in the light from your eveready <br />He said poet you saw my light, you saw my light <br />You saw my light in the middle of the night <br />He said you have been drinking all day <br />And i just know your ready <br />One good clout with this big stick <br />Caught in the light of my eveready <br />And you are on your way to hell <br />Where there is no drinking and singing <br />It was then that i woke under a burning light <br />The sun was up and it was the end of the night <br />I saw the light, i saw the light <br />I saw the Devil in the middle of the night <br />I saw the light, i saw the light <br /> <br />Written Monday December 2006<br /><br />allan James saywell<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/i-saw-a-light/
