If only you knew, <br /> <br />How I felt inside, <br /> <br />Feelings you'll never fathom, <br /> <br />Deep in shadows they reside. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Hidden behind the glorious façade, <br /> <br />Of a smiling face, <br /> <br />Smiles are nowhere to be found, <br /> <br />They are without a trace. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Anger is swallowed, <br /> <br />Passion is too, <br /> <br />For it's too much to handle, <br /> <br />All this thinking of you. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />I hope for tranquility, <br /> <br />And need peace of mind, <br /> <br />But I am left with emotion, <br /> <br />Of a much different kind. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />I am immersed in pain, <br /> <br />And in murky confusion, <br /> <br />I wish I could see, <br /> <br />Without any delusion. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />As life saunters on, <br /> <br />And we all seem to pass, <br /> <br />Each other by, maybe <br /> <br />We'll know truth at last. <br /> <br /> <br />If only you had known, <br /> <br />If only, if only, <br /> <br />Then maybe we wouldn't <br /> <br />Be so lonely. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Flowing continuously, <br /> <br />Are icy tears, <br /> <br />Not of hate, but of <br /> <br />So many loves and fears. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />So much to ponder, <br /> <br />A wall of lies, <br /> <br />And all of those, <br /> <br />Unsuccessful tries. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Living behind walls, <br /> <br />That will never be broken, <br /> <br />I only wish, <br /> <br />That I had spoken. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />For if only you knew, <br /> <br />That it will remain, <br /> <br />Constantly, forever, <br /> <br />The same. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />And as all life will fade, <br /> <br />But oddly we'll try, <br /> <br />To exceed our limit, <br /> <br />I have but one question, why? <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />If only you knew, <br /> <br />How I felt inside, <br /> <br />Feelings you'll never fathom, <br /> <br />Deep in shadows they reside.<br /><br />Megan Kinkel<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/if-only-you-knew-3/
