As I swim past this vast violent sea,
Of life’s processes of agony and glee,
I am caught in the web of sea currents,
Who pull back my fins and no solace rent.

I breathe through my dreams,
But they are shattered by these extremes,
And I gasp and gasp in vain,
And suffer bouts of pain.

As I squatter in the waters,
To search every quarter,
My dreams, which are lost,
But I search them at whatever cost.

And as I fight and fight to free myself,
From the wrath of the Sea God Himself,
I go back into the waters, searching for my dreams,
Where no help there seems.

As I search, the heartless sea creatures of Time,
Laugh and laugh as I mime,
And when I ask about my dreams,
They laugh in further streams.

And I, a ruptured heart,
Cry in remonstrance to His great Part,
And yet, I receive a torpid reply,
And again, tired, I lie.

And as I lie in a numbing sleep,
In the vast sea deep,
I wake up by a silent touch,

Which waives off the pain, I suffered so much.
And as I open my relieved eyes,
My Mother there lies,
Her name is Hope, she is God –sent,
She is a graceful persona, so ebullient.

And she fights the heartless sea creatures,
And bring back my dreams with all its features,
And she gives me a smile,
And says, ‘ I shall come to you while after while’.

Rishikesh Madhav

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/broken-dreams-5/
