It is important for women to remember
one thing
to adopt as policy
digest as intrinsic
sustenance—
one thing,
to program as innate
ideology—
preview as profound
philosophy;

that is if any of them
read my so-called
poetry anymore
as it seems to be
fundamentally
reaching
men.

Yet—one thing—
for them to live by
is a notion of C. Bukowski*:

“I always had this certain
contentment-
I wouldn't call it
happiness-
it was more of an inner
balance
that settled for
whatever was occurring
and it helped in the
factories
and when relationships
went wrong
with the
girls“

—guys.

s./j. goldner

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/one-thing/
