Decades later if I happen to see you again,
Again decades later, at the lean mall hour,
In the month of September,
When for the office, there is hurry no more,
Fun with grand children and philosophy of life we discuss,

Or we might have run out of work,
Nothing to be busy with,
When new technology and the new generation,
Marginalized the old and the rest.
Restricted we are limited to our nest.

Almost entire life is gone as you look back,
Still if I meet with you during a morning walk,
Having taken that turn at the juice shop,
As you walk slowly on the other foot,
The decade’s gap has made our memory remote,

Almost entire life has passed, as you take a rear view,
Then again if destiny arranges a meet of me and you,
Decades later on a misty morning, your old self gets back at you!

(April 30,2007)

Amit Biswas

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/925-decades-later/
