the last thing i saw <br />before both eyes went blind <br />was a vision of every form <br />coming undone <br />and darkness dispelled, <br />and the shadows consigned <br />unto night and to hell <br />all were vanished <br />and gone. <br />until only light <br />could be seen anywhere! <br />like every last star had been <br />rolled into one! <br /> <br />the last thing i thought <br />before losing my mind <br />was the notion that everything here <br />is a dream. <br />the roles we all play <br />and what joys we might find <br />as we go through each day <br />from the slight to extreme, <br />are only illusions, <br />intrusive and warm; <br />and reality's never the thing <br />it may seem. <br /> <br />the last thing i did <br />before finally i died <br />was forgive everyone of their <br />various sins; <br />and crimes i had done, <br />as at last i took pause <br />with my arias sung <br />to receive the applause <br />of god and the angels <br />the cosmos and saints; <br />as all of creation <br />was rolled up again.<br /><br />moon batchelder<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-last-thing-2/
