Written: August 26,2004 <br /> <br />The birthday cards were always signed “I love you”- <br />Every special holiday he knew just what to do. <br />But the days in between, he would tend to forget- <br />Sometimes say things he'd later regret. <br /> <br />Busy with work and meetings here or there- <br />She began to feel he just didn't care. <br />He spoke more to his partners than she- <br />Time taken from her for his perfect law degree <br /> <br />She stood by his side through it all- <br />Even the nights he worked late and forgot to call. <br />He would always make it up in some special way- <br />Roses and an “I love you card” would do what he couldn't say. <br /> <br />Never once did he speak those 3 little words aloud- <br />Merely relied on cards to portray the things he long ago vowed. <br />As time went on, she gave up on things getting changed- <br />Realized that their relationship was completely estranged. <br /> <br />One day she decided to just let go- <br />When he asked why-she only said “It's because of what you didn't show- <br />“No emotions at all-everything written not spoken- <br />So now I must walk away with my heart broken.” <br /> <br /> <br />©2004 Candice Martin<br /><br />Candice M.
