I thought I knew what I needed,
I thought I figured out what I wanted,
But I was more than wrong,
For I lost her, the one I love,
Because of my own stupidity.

I gave him my heart,
I loved him without shame or regret,
He told me I was his only one,
But those were lies coming from his lips,
And I believed every one.

She passes me now and I can’t think,
For a single moment our eyes meet,
Her stare so cold and hard,
I wish to tell her of my sorrow and pain,
But her heart no longer cares.

My heart flutters as he so closely passes me,
But I can’t let him know the truth,
It would simply show my vulnerability,
And that would only push up his ego,
So for that short second…I show nothing.

I miss her,
I need her,
But I’ve destroyed any chance,
I loved her and I lost her,
Now it’s all left to…

His smile,
His laugh,
I miss them more and more every day,
But I can’t put my heart on the line,
Not again, not even for what I crave most…

…Her forgiveness

…His attention

We shared a love that died,
A trust that was broken,
And a dream of forever that faded…

Kristen Currey

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/fading-from-forever/
