It should have been a great day <br />A glorious day to be dreamed of <br />The sun was shining so brightly, with not a speck of cloud in sight. <br />But in my heart there was turmoil <br />The gathering of black clouds on the horizon were <br />Swiftly and terrifyingly drifting into my world, pregnant <br />with the worst of the storms and my spirit was slowly dying on me. <br /> <br />When the storm came, I had already given in to the waves of defeat. <br />The storm’s mighty hands and many like the tentacles of an octopus <br />Were slowly suffocating me dragging me deep into the ink-black <br />tempestuous world. <br />Then I saw you through the eye of the storm <br />Standing there so beautiful and majestic with a smile so <br />gentle and reassuring. <br />My dying heart started a beat, faster and faster it pounded <br />Like an African war drum. <br />And even as your embrace gave birth to my soul <br />the storm was lifted. <br />Leaving me to what was definitely a magnificent day <br />Yes I saw you through the eye of the storm.<br /><br />Mpho Petrus Manwedi<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/through-the-eye-of-the-storm/
