A golden red sari <br /> the colour of the glorious sun <br />Draped lightly over <br /> her delicate frame <br />She sat - she, the bride. <br /> <br />Her thick and black tresses were plaited <br /> to almost below her knees <br />And on it was arranged artistically <br /> the intoxicating 'mogra' flowers <br /> <br />On her fair forehead - the vermillion 'Bindi' <br /> symbolised her status <br />Her fine eyebrows arched <br /> over eyes that were deep pools <br /> fringed by sooty eyelashes <br />Her lips like rosebud <br /> above the jutting chin <br />Her neck, slender as a gazelle's <br /> was bedecked with gold <br />Delicate earrings on her earlobes <br />Bracelets and bangles studded with precious stones <br /> on her hands, and...intricate designs in 'mehndi' <br /> <br />Her feet adorned with anklets <br />She sat waiting.............. <br />And all who saw her exclaimed <br />' The bride is breathtakingly beautiful!
