Today is falling, Oliver. <br />Gray wind falls, time falls, the heavy <br />Truth falls with the clouds. <br />And it happens now: my understanding <br />The cold acceptance <br />On how we fell from one another <br />Eight quiet days ago. <br /> <br />Our distance sits by my feet, <br />And my heart falls for you— <br />And her waving tail of decorated memories <br />Follow her faithfully, closely. <br />Attached. Your past grins, <br />Attached to every falling expression <br />Around me. Your past pleasure <br />Traced on my walls—stained <br />By pure retrospect. <br /> <br />My heart is lost in a deep corner inside me <br />Invading me, disturbing me, <br />Calling herself a home in a quiet <br />Territory of sadness—undiscovered <br />Until now. <br /> <br />My heart abandoned me to find you. <br />I lost her, just as I lost you, my lover <br />Quietly and quickly. Sharply. <br />And now numbly. Do you remember? <br /> <br />And now I breathe. My inhaled air falls <br />Hard through me—and I breathe again. <br />I breathe until I swell with halted sighs <br />Burning to rise instead of fall. Just once now. <br /> <br />It could rain today, Oliver. <br />The outside silence calls a certain change <br />In nature—it most certainly could rain. <br />I welcome it heavy through the clouds <br />And here I would fall with the rain. <br />My entire measure accompanies <br />Falling nature and all her dropping hopes. <br />I can be one with the rain.
