The pre-dawn is shattered <br />By incessant yowling <br />“Oh shut up you stupid dog! ” <br />I implore <br />Then it hits me: it’s actually <br />A hellhound’s howling! <br />So I refrain from poisoning <br />The Jack Russel next door. <br />Taking a calming breath <br />Of freshly-polluted air <br />And in through the window <br />Rancid smoke curled <br />I stare blankly at the neighbours <br />Glaring back at me <br />“Hurry! ” they cry <br />“It’s the end of the world! ” <br />“And what the hell are we to do? ” <br />I implore <br />“To deal with the inevitable <br />Boredom of the Longest Day? <br />We’re hardly trained soldiers <br />For The Third World War <br />There’s nothing you can do – <br />So piss off and pray.” <br />I’m choosing to be hypnotised <br />By the macabre cinema’s red screen <br />(‘Coz, seriously, playing wartime Heroine <br />Would make me yawn) <br />From my rooftop, Wholesale Murder <br />Is so wonderfully obscene <br />Eating popcorn, shooting smack <br />And de facing the dawn. <br />Neighbours shattered dreams <br />Draw beautiful bloodshed <br />The midday bloodbath so hot <br />It revives my nightmares <br />Pregnant mothers choke on the decay <br />Of exquisite red <br />“Suffer ‘n die! ” I laugh, <br />Briefly amused, “Nobody cares! ” <br />The way to Heaven is lit <br />By screaming Totem Poles <br />As blazing kids careen in panic <br />‘Round the scorched earth <br />I smirk as they burn fleshy feet <br />On Hell’s hot coals <br />The sick ‘lil jokes should’ve <br />Been slaughtered at birth. <br />Saturday night darkness has fallen <br />Oh, god am I bored! <br />(Mother Nature’s silver screen <br />Is B-grade, you see?) <br />“’Armageddon’ and such movies <br />Have spoiled us! ” I implored <br />“So can we just stay in tonight <br />And watch a DVD? ”<br /><br />Hyperion Cartel<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/kinematics-101/
