Life Is Fun

The young scream and shout
They’ve got it all figured out
They know everything there is to know.
They think parents are dumb
No respect for Dad and Mum
Gran’s cuckoo and Grandpa’s all show.

As you get older
More burdens you shoulder
Keep a job and raise your family;
But at last you can rest
And now comes the test
Are you a sweet Great-grandma like me?

Yes?
Naaah!

I am bellicose Belle
And I’m riding to Hell
On my steed that is waiting outside.
I’ll beg steal or borrow
And bugger tomorrow
Jump behind me if you want a ride.

When you’ve passed 65
It’s fun being alive
You can get away with so many things
You can look meek and quiet
When you’ve just caused a riot
It’s surprising what experience brings.

I’ve bought a big motor-bike
And do just as I like
Come on Grannies, just grab your lids.
We’ll go to the town
Get a pint or two down
And we’ll terrorise all those bloody kids.

Irene C S ClarkHogg

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/life-is-fun/
