Solomon addressed the people <br />'Oh you, the people of Israel, <br />Our Lord, you must all praise, <br />For, he kept up all his promises.' <br /> <br />'God told my father David, <br />That a temple, I'll build. <br />His command, I've obeyed. <br />So here, He willingly stayed.' <br /> <br />Before God, he then stood, <br />And to the Lord, he prayed, <br />With his hand both raised, <br />The Lord, he heartily praised. <br /> <br />'O God, you kept your promise. <br />You gave us freedom and peace. <br />May the Lord ever be with us. <br />Our prayer to You is only this.' <br /> <br />He sanctified the temple, <br />With his offerings too liberal. <br />The people praised him, <br />And happily went home. <br /> <br />God's love thus he earned. <br />Towards him, all turned. <br />So popular became his name, <br />He reached the height of fame. <br /> <br />God answered his prayer <br />And gave him whatever, <br />Every time, he wished for, <br />For his humble nature. <br />. <br />He became so wealthy, <br />Gold filled his treasury <br />Every year in tons, <br />In addition to grains. <br /> <br />He sat on a golden throne. <br />With a figure of lion, <br />For arms, on each side, <br />That enhanced his pride. <br /> <br />Day by day, he became wiser, <br />More than other kings richer, <br />His army grew stronger, <br />And his popularity wider.<br /><br />Simple Simon<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/f04-solomon-s-prayer/
