I switch on the TV
And I hear news…

A wall collapsed on a woman
And she died of serious injuries.

I switched over the channel
To hear a report about
Another woman who
was killed in cold blood.

Then after that a
Lorry had overturned on
The motorway by
Strong gale forces,
It was catastrophic
They say.

Then I turn the channel again
And I hear a report
On racism on TV
And the vast majority
Of people not wanting to hear
Racism on Big Brother.

Life is depressing enough
As it is
I don’t want to hear racism
Bullying, prejudice
And cynicism.

I don’t need to hear it.

I switched off my TV
And I watched the blank
screen.

I am still watching that
Blank screen now.

It’s very grey…

Nathan Strange

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/tv-4/
