Spinning the wheel
Positioning the clay
Hands begin to play
Everything has a form
What will I make today

Round and round the potters wheel goes
The artist moulds her design
With each item her talent is shown
A bowl a plate or a cup can be seen

Round and round the lathe rotates
Transforming the wood so plain
The shape grows
Soon we have beautiful symetry
How the wood has changed.

Spin the lathe and turn this wood
The marvel of the artist at work
Take a piece of wood that looks so plain
And produce a piece of pure pleasure

Spinning round and round noises in my ears
cant stand and greet the world
Time is passing by.

Life life spinning and turning
Taking time from them all
Noise noise there is so much noise
Crazy you feel all the time..

(* dedicated to 2 wonderful people... my sister the potter and my father who suffers from Meniers... the lathe hides the noise*)
written January 2007

Alison Smith

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/spinning-in-time/
