I do not share your passion for Leonard Cohen
those sad soulful melodies and nostalgic tunes
when you listen and turn up the volume
makes it seem you demand that we all listen
but I feel anger rising and must leave the room
turn on the radio and close the door
in an act of independence from that monotonous voice
rising and falling in a repetitive tune
when you switch to the classics and let the music boom
I’m so allergic to noise, I have no choice
but to stay in my room
in a silence I
chose…

It’s very nice you believe you know what is best
for everyone you come across in the world
you have passed many tests
and proved your point
but in defiance I can’t always show
blind allegiance to every scheme
you get into your head - and in all fairness
there was a time I had to write a submission
to obtain the microwave I desired - and you knowing best
purchased a dishwasher too, a thing I detest
and never used - please understand
I prefer Freedom to Munificent
Benevolence!

Margaret Alice

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/freedom-and-munificent-benevolence/
