Searched have I the starry sky <br />For a eyes alike your own <br />Yet never have I known love alike <br />The love for you I’ve grown. <br /> <br />The sun pales in comparison <br />With your radiance, <br />As the eyes of the Goddess Venus <br />Taint their stare an emerald green in envy <br />When confronted by your form. <br /> <br />She is raging, turning the pages of history <br />In an attempt to find a beauty beyond your boundary <br />But no smile can she find that sets free <br />Alike yours the heart of the poet in love. <br /> <br />And lost in desperation <br />Sick of seeking that which I know <br />Will only be found in your arms <br />I lay down my heart defenceless to your sword. <br />Slay the dreams of love if your heart is sure <br />But know that no cure will resurrect <br />My heart once torn of hope. <br /> <br />I am yours, forever at your mercy <br />Forever wishing to know your kiss, <br />The kiss that I’ve been missing, <br />The kiss that I’ve been searching for <br />Throughout every life I’ve ever known. <br /> <br />Searched have I the starry sky <br />For a girl alike yourself <br />And now I know where it is she lies <br />I can not place emotion upon the shelf <br />And disguise a love that consumes me so. <br /> <br />I guess I just thought you should know.<br /><br />David Lacey<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/searched-have-i-the-starry-sky/
