This day today 20 January <br />I was born some years back <br />in a place called Sungei Petani, Kedah <br />in this beautifully flourishing - Malaysia. <br /> <br />This day today is my birthday <br />so what shall I say? <br />Thank you my Lord? <br />or, I hate you my God? <br /> <br />as my memory meander through the past <br />I began to wonder <br />is my birth the first birth? <br />or, is it just a rebirth? <br /> <br />This day today is my birthday <br />saturated with wishes I woke up as usual <br />nothing unusual, for the mind appears normal <br />with the sun sending forth it’s light as everyday <br />and the brightness lights as before, across the room. <br /> <br />families and friends greet me with bouquets of wish <br />a sign to say that they do remember this man today <br />seeing the corridor of his 42nd sojourn on earth <br />despite the crass suffering ensuing - still. <br /> <br />I know not what have I learned <br />for I live life fighting against the odds <br />I mingle with pain, pleasure, fear and security <br />knowing deeply that the one omnipresent power <br />is always there <br />somewhere far yet deep within me as well. <br /> <br />This day today is my birthday <br />I wish as usual during every birthday <br />no cakes should be made and sliced for me <br />no candles should be blown after being lit alive <br />but to the poor man in the street <br />let the joy and appreciation be shown, <br />that alone I wish for today. <br /> <br />in frailties I implore your pardon my Lord <br />in strength I humbly beg for your benevolent guidance, <br />I thank you my God <br />for today my eyes opened once more <br />to see and appreciate the light that you are. <br /> <br />©cyclopseven.
