I thought that people might wake up, <br />... apply their brains to what they've seen, <br />I forgot that they were human beings, <br />... and will only see in front of them. <br /> <br /> Abstraction is a concept of the educated, <br />distraction is the pass-time of the masses, <br />reflection is the luxury of those who are all done, <br />and tomorrow is too much sorrow that hasn't happened yet, <br />to anyone before them. <br /> <br /> I thought that people might wake up, a bit, <br />if I could say what to expect, <br />if I could put life right in front of them, <br />... but, they continued to be human. <br /> <br /> Continuing to see, so very little, <br />when all it shows, is almost nothing, <br />which is exactly as expected... <br />nothing less and nothing more. <br /> <br /> Some profit at some endeavor, <br />makes all the difference, <br />A few dollars means a good year, <br />... or a bad one! <br />... some of us don't see that! <br /> <br /> Gorillas in the mountains, <br />Elephants and Rhinoceroses, <br />- - - it seems completely damned preposterous, <br />that we consider ourselves above them! <br />... for one of the 6 Billion to survive. <br /> <br /> The waking up is not that likely, <br />... don't count on brains to triumph, <br />they never have, <br />so, why start now? <br />- - - because, no matter how you think of it, <br />- - - selfish... is what humans are!<br /><br />Barry Van Allen<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/lost-causes/
