The Poet tells lifes stories <br />In fiction or for real, <br />Rhyming couplets, haikus, free verse - <br />But words he's got to feel. <br /> <br />There's those who use so many words, <br />Some poets use so few <br />But words are just not poetry, <br />You must review, review, review. <br /> <br />Some write of God unceasingly, <br />Others on nature always dwell. <br />Me - I like a mixture, <br />Including some on Hell! <br /> <br />Some poets deal with sadness, <br />There's love fanatics too <br />But cliche writing poets <br />Will bore the pants off you! <br /> <br />There's Francis Duggan, Ogden Nash, <br />Dream Catcher, De La Mare. <br />Now all of these - they know their art - <br />There's others who don't care. <br /> <br />So many famous poets, <br />Wordworth, Keats, Ted Hughes <br />But all of them must wait upon <br />Those visits from the Muse. <br /> <br />I think I've touched a little on <br />The poet with his art, <br />So if a poet you would be, <br />Please do it from the heart!<br /><br />Joe Hughes visit joehughes.org.uk<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-poet-53/
