He looked down into her brown eyes. <br />And said “Say a prayer for me.” <br />She threw her arms around him and whispered “Our God will keep us free.” <br />He smiled a weary smile and said, <br /> “This is my last fight. Once I go back to war, I may not come out alive.” <br />She cried a low cry, tears streaming down her face. <br />Watching her angel, her love, her husband, move towards the military base. <br />Then it began. <br />But the lives ended. <br />There was terror, there were cries. <br />There was sadness. <br />There were gunshots. <br />There were tears. <br />Then there was the pain. <br />But there was no regret. <br />These men fought for their countries and families. <br />They wanted to win. <br />Unrealizing there were no winners. <br />But as the battle stopped, and the smoke fell, there was a brand new feeling. <br />The feeling of loss. <br />These men were losing their lives. <br />The nurse realized this too. <br />She stepped onto the deathbed of hundreds, and battle for lives of more. <br />This was where she saw her man, covered in blood. <br />And she realized he was no longer hers. <br />Because God’s special angels, <br />Had taken another angel home.<br /><br />Gab Oso<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/angel-goes-home/
