A table, chair, <br />and empty wall <br />surround me where I sit, <br />my thoughts hark back <br />to days gone by <br />and the way it used to be. <br /> <br />Everything was touched <br /> with love; <br />its warmth enveloped me here. <br />Every room was filled <br />with wonderful things <br />dotted here and there. <br /> <br />The walls were never empty, <br />pictures and photographs <br />looked down at me, <br />as I would sit here. <br />Someone had forgotten bills <br /> that had to be paid. <br /> <br />Then came the bailiffs. <br />I look around and everything is gone. <br />My life is left in misery. <br />Oh, what happened? <br />What went so dearly wrong? <br />Our loving home is now empty, even of you. <br /> <br />27 June 2007<br /><br />David Harris<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/empty-36/
